short flexible EL linker
This linker was made to optimize BRET in a chimeric LuxB: Venus protein. The linker should be of optimal length to maintain the donor and acceptor within the critical proximity range (<10 nm) necessary for BRET to occur. Typically, linkers of 10-15 amino acids are used, but this can vary depending on the specific proteins involved.
A flexible linker is utilized when the joined domains require a certain degree of movement or interaction. A short linker was used to preserve the <10 nm critical proximity range
